I forget that I’m not always in the CTC printer bit. It’s a CTC Bizer Dual, about a year old. 146

Makerbot software is asking to do firmware update. It says to press the reset button on the printer immediately after clicking Upload. I don’t want to kill my printer, am I to assume there is a reset button on the motherboard and this is what I need to press?? Is the update worth doing? Currently on…

Had an original throat fuse into the heat block and it got damaged/badly scratched by pliers in this removal. On fitting it back in the small screw is now unable to hold the extruder head and it drops the whole head whenever I attempt to print. I can’t find any hot end throats that match this unthre…

I’m not sure what you mean, I took off a 12V (the original one) and replaced it using the same wires.

The fan for my right extruder (CTC Bizer Dual) had started to run a little slowly so I replaced it. Did all the checks that I had rewired a new one (12V/40mm) properly. It ran ok during preheat and kicked in at 50’c like normal. Changed it to feed in the filament and the fan stopped even when it was…

Printer stopped mid print. Was printing using the right extruder and haven’t used the left for ages. Printer says my ‘heater error, my temperature reads are failing, check the connections’. Looking at what the MakerBot slicer says in monitor function about the temperature readings are R=37’c L=1245’…

Printed black piece 1st with filament spool on side of the printer, pink/purple was next and was printed with the spool at the side of the printer near the bottom and then moved to above the printer, yellow was 3rd with spool above the printer for the whole print. When comparing the black print is n…

Haven’t had this issue before and spool is on the side (centre of the holder is attached to the top). Spool is where its pretty much always been, partly why I don’t understand this new issue.

Not tightly at all, both rolls are no less than 1/4th used

Had some really good prints recently up until a couple of days ago when it appears to start shifting ever so slightly as you can see in the photo. The shifts don’t appear at the same height on any print, it seems quite random. Its also a shift either to the right or the left upon the x axis. I use a…

Hi do you have a link for the fan you have put in place to cool the print?

Ebay might not enforce a 1 year warranty but if you paid via Paypal or credit card they will usually open a case for you.

Was wondering what length I should be looking for as the wanhao site only has the fully external threaded ones?

Hi all, I’m wanting to replace my hotend rods (the bit you put ptfe tubing in) and I can’t find any on aliexpress or ebay that look like them. The nozzles it uses are Mk8 but all the Mk8 rods are threaded all the way down the exterior where as the original ones I have are threaded at the bottom end …

I have recently replaced my nozzles, ptfe tubing and cleaned the gear wheels on my CTC dual’s printer head. The stuttering of the filament feed happens on both sides with a clicking type noise. It makes the filament that comes through have very thin break points wherever it has stuttered. Had fitted…

I’ve just fitted new spring loaded extruders to my CTC dual printer and now they don’t feed properly at all. The right feeds if the filament is pushed and the left feeds as and when it pleases. I left the original drive gears in place and didn’t fit the brass gears (identical in size) that came with…

Can anyone explain why ABS is printing fine and PLA is not? If it is a deformed PTFE tube then why does ABS get through and the PLA not? In the case of “pull your nozzle off” is there a way that this can be done without removing the printhead from the bars, taking off the fans and heatsink, removing…

It’s done 213hrs and have had it about 6/7 weeks

Pink PLA at 190c, 200c. Grey PLA 240c, Green ABS 240c [IMG_20160831_182417_HDR.jpg]

Not quite sure I get how to do that on the CTC.

Ok so, it was recently cleaned out and prints ABS perfectly fine at regular ABS temperatures. I have printed the block in green ABS very nicely before and after the grey and pink PLA blocks. As for lower temperatures working better I understand the theory however the better quality has been on the h…

Have had a few prints recently with PLA that look like underextrusion and the only way to get a decent print is to wack up the extruder temperature to 240c!! ABS prints absolutely fine, no issues at 240c. Photo of pink PLA blocks - left is 240c, right is 230c. Grey PLA blocks range from 215c to 240c…

Sounds like one for you to rope in a parent or guardian in for. Otherwise google about young entrepeneurs or contact HMRC.

I had a print that looked like that, was working fine and then went like the top of yours, turned out the nozzle was blocked. Unblocking wasn’t straight forward but its completing prints again. Perhaps also re-download the file and put it back through your slicer, it could be that the stl file is sl…

Have a look at this, https://all3dp.com/common-3d-printing-problems-and-their-solutions/ it has been really helpful for me. Re-level the bed using a piece of regular paper (you will be doing this countless times!) Bed leveling is under Utilities on the machine itself and it walks you through the pro…

Having trouble setting up octoprint on my raspberry pi 2 for my CTC Dual extruder printer. I’ve got everything working as far as the pi and octoprint are concerned as far as I can tell, except when I try to print anything it tries to drive my print bed through the floor. Unfortunately Octoprint requ…

Where is your box from and what size is it please? I have been wondering how to create something like this for a nominal cost to hopefully help with ABS warping. I have seen many guides and ideas to cheaply make front doors etc but nothing for the top.

Hi hope you are we posted in aother thread about the settings you need to write down so after you upgrade you can enter them… which settings are these? thank you

Have been trying to print several parts recently with rafts but for some reason not every part will get a full raft so when it goes to lay the first proper layer it fails because the nozzle is then too high due to no raft in certain areas. I am using Makerbot Desktop (latest version as far as I am a…

It was more that slic3r doesn’t do the recognising your printer thing that replicator and makerbot do, I’m not entirely convinced inputting the bed size and what I believe is the extruder offset would be enough for it to function correctly without doing the whole “I want to take your print head thro…
