Makerbot software is asking to do firmware update. It says to press the reset button on the printer immediately after clicking Upload. I don’t want to kill my printer, am I to assume there is a reset button on the motherboard and this is what I need to press?? Is the update worth doing? Currently on version 7.2.

What is the printer? Reason to ask is people use makerbot software on more than makerbot printers so updating may be a bad idea.

I would research the printer model and find out what the latest firmware is and if an update is a good idea.

If you are not having any issues and there isn’t a compelling reason to update, like a new feature, then you may want to leave it alone.

I forget that I’m not always in the CTC printer bit. It’s a CTC Bizer Dual, about a year old.

Ok, I would not let it update the firmware without finding exact instructions on how to do it for your exact printer. I read a lot on people having issues updating the firmware on CTC printers. Nothing wrong with the printers!! It seems it can be tricky and the reset button is a key to it.

The main thing is the software is really for makerbot printers so the firmware you are running may be different than what the makerbot software thinks you need. In other words it may try to load firmware that won’t work. Just be careful!!
