I’ve just fitted new spring loaded extruders to my CTC dual printer and now they don’t feed properly at all. The right feeds if the filament is pushed and the left feeds as and when it pleases. I left the original drive gears in place and didn’t fit the brass gears (identical in size) that came with the spring loaded ones. These are what I have fitted but the feed it produces is plain unusable.

What could the issue be? Looking for answers before I put the old ones back on in disappointment.

My guess is you need the new gears. On the right one that feeds when pushed try this. Load the filament as you normally would and when it stops feeding let it go for a bit then stop and pull it out and see if you have gear marks on the filament or has it eaten away at the filament like it is spinning. The teeth on the new gear may be just slightly different and be enough to matter. Also make sure the gear is “centered” on the filament when you install. i.e. the gear may need to be moved closer or further away from the motor to align with the filament and the idler roller.
