I have two identical tubular shapes. The orange one has a circular hole in the side. The white one does not. I’d like to use the orange tube to as a hole, then align the objects to create a shape that is the same as the hole in the orange tube. However, it doesn’t work for some reason. Once combin…

Hi guys, I would like to share with you my newest project. The Quadra lamp features a base, bulb support and shader in only one piece. Its dimensions take advantage of the maximum printing height on the Ultimaker2. It took 26 hours to print with a 200 micron resolution at a printing speed of 30/40 …

ok so probably old news to most now but windows 10 have released a developer board wic allows you to network most usb devices, and is aimed at 3d printer networking?! pretty cool right? now obviously so far it only supports main stream printers but they are taking requests, im hoping if we bombard t…

I am new to this forum, and I am interested in creating a 3D bee hive. I wanted to know, is there a good online image to 3D print converter software available online? I wanted to download an image of a bee hive from google, and turn it into a 3D object. Is that possible and what software would you …

Calling all Brummies (and any other locals) I am interested in having a few open nights at my studio. We have 3dprinting, laser cutting and CNC facilities and I am interested in meeting other printers, designers and makers. Let me know if you are interested.

So I’m new to 3D printing but I’m fascinated in it. I would like to know what the best 3D printer is for under 500 dollars. It can go a little bit over though.

Hi, Would anyone say no to 3d print replicas in all yellow and all massive, meaning there are no way to use or remove any parts. The customer need replicas for his business where he makes custom leather holsters on orders. I have done a test print and it turned out quite good. I have a a written d…

I got an email today with the tracking number for the shipment of my printer. An hour later UPS was here with the printer. <sarcasm_mode>Now that’s quick service.</sarcasm_mode> It took about half an hour to put together. Here’s a picture of it: [101hero_on_bench.jpg] It has some issues. I didn’…

I started having heat creep issues trying to print and water cooling was my last ditch effort to get over the problem and maybe…just maybe…have it work better than ever. Conclusion, it worked awesome! First successful dual print in years. The mounting bar stabilized around 45degC. I melted two cold…

Currently, the Hubs pricing quote is based on 20% infill and 1 shell (I believe) and I would like to request the ability for customers to specify what they want the print parameters to be once the model is uploaded, just like how you choose material and color. I do a decent amount of mechanical prot…

Does anyone else think there needs to be a cancellation fee for customers that commit to buy and back out after shipping is added? This happens to us a lot and it’s really frustrating to spend time on what is supposed to be an order and it doesn’t go through.

I don’t have a heated bed for my Makerbot so I realize that using this material will warp a lot. That being said: is there a way where it won’t warp SO much?

check out the new PA-CF! http://pa.colorfabb.com/ PA6. Tensile strength was measured at 77,99 MPa and impact strength (notched) was measured at 5,44KJ/m2, test specimens. and is heat resistance: 120C + carbon fiber infused

i recommend ASA, it is mechanically similar to ABS and has more enviromental resistance (Color change, britelness etc…), and we have been getting mechanically functional parts out of a maker bot replicator with the material. If you are worried about adhesion to the platform DimaFix or something simi…
-
short answer: Colorfabb XT or a good nylon, Polycarbonate or maybe a modified ABS like TitanX
-
If you use PETG then your layer adhesion is amazing but at the cost of having a brittle part that will wear very fast. Your best bet would probably be some sort of polycarbonate or nylon. However I don’t have experience with these plastics in terms of delamination of layers.

Link no longer active.

Warping due to bad adhesion. Try adding a brim and printing again, also be sure the bed is as level as you can get it.

Ramps uses thermistors for the hot ends not thermocouples so you’d need to swap those too. Suprised at the OP’s need for USB - I always print from SD.

I remember seeing this last year: 3D Printed Honeycombs Allow Beekeepers to Get Honey "On Tap" - Over $12 Million Raised on Indiegogo - 3DPrint.com | The Voice of 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing which struck me as an interesting idea.

My advice is to open up tabs for every term you don’t know on reprap wiki or something. Ok, so your slicer chops up an STL file into print code (Gcode) and your host software sends that to the printer. Nowadays the slicer and host are one and the same, thankfully. Commonly used: -Repetier -Slic3…

That machine lists that it uses/supports Repetier. This is the firmware and also a way to serve the machine files to print. All your needs and documentation are here: https://www.repetier.com/ If I understand things correctly, you will need to assemble your 3D Printer. Of course you might not, I’m…

If it looks like a real life gun, it cannot be printed on 3dhubs. If it looks like a raygun from outerspace, it is ok to print. Use common sense in determining if it looks like something from star trek or if it looks like something from dirty harry. This is not a double standard. Zero tolerance rul…

Hi @N3DS Printing weapons is a not allowed through 3D Hubs. We are a peace-loving company founded in the Netherlands and we adhere to strict Dutch legislation on weapons and fake weapons, and therefore we don’t allow it. Printing weapons violates Section 6.2 of the 3D Hubs Terms of Use. When it co…

Is it doing this on the supports also? Kind of looks like it. If so it is probably a mechanical issue. I would try to secure the glass bed better or remove it to see if it is any different. What is the print speed? Try to slow way down and see the effect of that. Are the rings uniform all the way …

You may be printing at a layer height that is not compatible with the steps of the stepper motor. For example, someone recently figured out that these are the best layer heights for the MP Select Mini and MP Select.

Colin, on my mainboard there is only one trim pot and that is for the z-axis motors. I turned it a little bit clockwise and now there is no stalling in the Z direction! Thank you for the tip. This was starting to drive me a little bonkers.
