Which filament to replace ABS

Haven’t used my printer in a while … I usually use abs or pla, I’m planning on building a CNC machine and need some parts printed. So what’s a suitable replacement for abs any new filament with similar toughness/temperature resistance to abs without the annoyance of delamination on tall prints?

If you use PETG then your layer adhesion is amazing but at the cost of having a brittle part that will wear very fast. Your best bet would probably be some sort of polycarbonate or nylon. However I don’t have experience with these plastics in terms of delamination of layers.

PLA could be a good and suitable replacement for the ABS printing material as both these share almost similar properties.

Apart from this, you could also try PETG or some other types of nylons that have a good layer adhesion.

i recommend ASA, it is mechanically similar to ABS and has more enviromental resistance (Color change, britelness etc…), and we have been getting mechanically functional parts out of a maker bot replicator with the material. If you are worried about adhesion to the platform DimaFix or something similar do an amazing job with both ASA and ABS.

Thanks for the suggestions people… I’ll have to see what’s available from my usual suppliers… what about HIPS ? Anyone used this other than as support material.
