I would like to second the sentiment about people randomly showing up without previous arrangement. It happened 3 times to us and it was not pleasant. A 3d hubs help desk person suggested we use the address of our pickup nearby pickup location, which we do. We are not, interested in auto handing ou…

As has been stated 3dhubs should be able to show you printers nearest you that can print your model. When you upload via the print button it shouldn’t show you printers that aren’t large enough to handle the print. The Z18 isn’t the only large printer, nor is it the most reliable. Also you might wa…

Depending on where you are located in the Triangle, I’m in the South Raleigh/Garner area. There’s also a Hackerspace in Durham, Splat Space. We haven’t done a 3d printer meetup in a while but I’d be up for one. I Built a Cupcake back in the day and worked on Splat’s Rep1, There are a few highly spe…

I own the design, for me to print it would be around $420. Other Hubs are cheaper the cheapest price I saw (local to NC) was about $250. I think the printable design benefits the most if you have a 3d printer. But if those prices sound reasonable go for it. You should note that the design recommend…

The 3dPrinterOS site says it supports the 5th gen printers. Mini, Replicator and z18. Why do you say it doesn’t? Octoprint can be coerced into working but it requires the GPX addon.

Ah yes, “MINTEMP Triggered!” I’d forgotten about that. Scary looking error too. I actually got a min temp error once in my house. (It was cold) That was when I learned all about the safety features of Printer firmware. I have a small space heater like people put under their desks in winter to heat t…

I like the front yard set up. I bet PLA printing is perfect with all this “Natural cooling” going on today.

It is my understanding that 3d printing day is to be at the various hubs’ home/work locations. There isn’t a central event location that will need setup or takedown. It will probably be handled by the individual hub owners.

This will be in addition to the 31st event. I’ll be at both events. The 31st event will focus on scanning. But if you like, I can bring my scanner to the Nov 18th event as well.

I’m going to do basic free software to get people started. 123d Design, TinkerCad, and OpenSCAD. I’ll have information on several others and will pretty much demo whatever people are interested in seeing. So software on the table for that would be: Blender, Fusion 360, the rest of the 123d suite, …

Just wanted to let everyone know, We’re going to do a meetup Wednesday, Nov 18th at 6:00pm at Event Horizon Games. We’ll be showing the sorts of things that can be printed for tabletop gaming as well as demoing software for designing 3d models for printing. Come out and show off your prints and talk…

I do not believe there is a version of Marlin that is compiled to run on Makerbot hardware (Mightyboard). You’d need to change the electronics to a RAMPS or Rumba or other hardware. That said, I do not think the firmware is the magic reason one print is better than another. You can easily locate pe…

SPARKCon is almost upon us and is the weekend of the 17th-20th. I’m extending an invitation to any local printers that would like to bring their printers and show off printed projects to come and join us. geekSPARK will be the 19th and 20th and will be at the Red Hat Annex 190 E Davie Street, Ralei…
