I have a Makerbot Replicator 2 that I’ve had to get repaired a few times. So far I’ve been really happy with the guys over at Fargo 3D Printing… But as you can imagine shipping from RTP to Fargo ND is pretty pricey. Are there any local shops that can repair my 3D Printer? Thanks!

Michael

I built a CoreXY printer. I can’t imagine that a repair on any printer is any big deal unless you can’t get a proprietary part.

But then there are plenty of substitutes. Next time you need help, email me.

Depending on where you are located in the Triangle, I’m in the South Raleigh/Garner area. There’s also a Hackerspace in Durham, Splat Space. We haven’t done a 3d printer meetup in a while but I’d be up for one.

I Built a Cupcake back in the day and worked on Splat’s Rep1, There are a few highly specialized electronic parts but not too much work. ND is definitely unnecessary unless you are looking for some kind of Authorized Makerbot repair shop. But I’m under the impression that unless you have a maintenance plan with Makerbot you are on your own for repairs.

What sorts of issues have you had?

Would be awesome to go to a meetup on 3D printing. NEver heard of Splat Space… Will have to check it out!

I had MakerBot support but it ran out. The guys in ND are awesome, since I am a SW guy and not mechanically enclined…
