I do scanning
and printing with a very high resolution printer. I have achieved print layers of 10 microns but I average 50 microns. Makerbots only print at 100-200 microns. This is important because you want to make silicone molds of your works. Ben

as I understand it the structure sensor is the same tech as my sense scanner. I use the advance settings and give the largest bounding box. This tells the software that you are shooting a small object. this makes better resolution large scans.

Ya I guess what im getting at is if 3dhubs had a browsable database . while the customer shops, his google location is referenced and local printers registered through the hub would be gently suggested at the bottom of the screen. Im just an idea guy and am clueless what it would actually take to do…

Great thing about the Sense Scanner, it cleans as you scan unlike anything with the Kinect. Also no power cord. this scanner is powered off of the usb. as the scan is in progress you get directional feedback to allow a great scan with a bit of practice. I would. it would drive the need to get things printed. There should be a Thingavers ish service. Hub owners submit their own work. Original content only. the customer gets a viewer with membership to view the files. then if they want to have them printed, refer back to the order process.

I am using cube3d 's Sense Scanner I have had Excellent results. I also have built my own laser scanners and used the Kinect to scan but for the value this is a good way to scan.
