What kind of robot is it? SCARA type or something mobile? I’m happy to take a look, but is this something requiring a lot of development?
-
DON’T do this - it will disable the AiO’s scanner and effectively prevent half of the features from working properly. Note the OP is not using a standard Da Vinci. There are no freely available original firmwares for the AiO, last I checked, so there’s no coming back from this - I had to have my mot…

Another thing that hasn’t been mentioned is to make sure your Printrbot is in an environment that doesn’t have fluctutating temperatures, like drafts or somewhere that’s quite cold. Some people even build a big box for their printer to combat this. But like @chunkysteveo said - a picture speaks a th…

I think the image is broken - it’s showing up as a question mark for me.

Upvote for giving clear instructions on how to go from A to B on an eNable prosthetic.
-
So you think the government would prevent the sale of the print due to it being medical in nature? The purpose of a print is not technically defined by 3DHubs so surely they’d be exempt from any liability or bureaucracy?

Here’s that handle if anyone likes their coffee with steamed milk. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1671472

Like your shelf scenario, my primary use is repair and sometimes prototyping. Steam valve on my Gaggia Classic snapped off, made a new one in Tinkercad and printed it off in polycarbonate in about two hours flat. An official replacement would have cost me £20. One thing I think that’s an even bigger…

Those cubes are so cool, that is skill!

I imagine the fume emissions would be horrible for thermoplastics, but you can laser engrave acrylic so I don’t see why not. Just need a rig that can handle the shape of whatever you’re engraving.
-
I agree - that is how a customer goes from ‘owner’ to ‘promoter’, you go above and beyond for every customer and word gets around.
-
So what’s the ‘form’ then, an insert inside the prosthetic? Was it ‘Team Unlimbited’ you contacted, because it might be that they just need someone to sort out the CAD design side of things, I’d be happy to facilitate.
-
Ah that actually is enablingthefuture! Need a chapter down here in Plymouth, lots of servicemen and women who’ve lost limbs. Anyone keen to form a chapter?
-
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned the e-Nable project yet, but that’s where I’d go for designs, should be several makers in the area on their list who can replicate one for you.
-
Those are so cool, thanks for sharing!

I see no mention of Polycarbonate anywhere on this thread, is there a reason why it’s not the go-to for this sort of requirement?

The E3D ‘Cyclops’.

The Printrbots run a version of the Marlin firmware which you can download through their GitHub page. Changing anything about the machine is as simple as; opening the firmware in the Arduino IDE, changing a single digit in the configuration file, compiling, and uploading. Thankfully Printrbot have …

I’ve had the ‘dreaded glob’ before but it’s always been to do with the bed adhesion or print settings - if you set your extrusion multiplier a little too high or your retract amount too low you’ll get globbing which may attach itself to your print, or in very extreme case turn into a doughnut around…
-
Oh, and if you go ahead with the Printrbot, do yourself a massive favour and switch out the hot-end for an E3D - I destroyed one of their Ubis hot-ends in about three months and didn’t fancy waiting for Godo when it came to buying another Ubis. The E3Ds are fully repairable, modifiable and highly re…

I don’t know anything about the Flashforge so I wouldn’t be a balanced opinion, but I have a heavily modified Printrbot Metal Plus and it’s been fantastic. As both systems (the Simple and the Plus) use an inductive sensor to level the bed they are capable of auto-levelling and saving you a lot of ti…

Oh my god, is that a Lionel Ritchie ashtray!!? That’s amazing!!

Bake your PLA in an oven at 80C for a couple of hours, periodically checking, that should sort the moisture out. In future get yourself a big sealable tupperware container from a hardware/kitchen store and fill it with any desiccant you can find. Now you know what to look for, send that kind of stu…

Try polycarbonate also, delamination can be an issue unless it’s printed at high temperature and speed but it’s very strong and has a glass transition temperature of 147 C.

Is that the first 5mm of height? How many layers in is that? Where do you store your filament when it’s not in use? Do you hear any crackling noises (evaporating moisture) while it prints? Does the room your printer is in have any drafts or is it cold? Or is your heated bed set to drop its tempera…
-
And the start G-Code? Is the filament retract the entire issue or has the clicking/whirring at the start of the print also recently manifested? I noticed it’s not cutting into the plumbers tape at the start so I’m guessing the height is fine. In the interest of time, I’ll lay out some possible sol…

Hi Patrick, I use an iMac with a Metal Plus Dual Extruder so I should be able to help. Absolutely do not reinstall OSX just because of this problem, it is highly compartmentalised like Linux so if a program is responding oddly it’s rarely because of the OS. A few initial questions: Is your Simple …
