We just updated our printers and have 1 printer that is always available (1 day delivery) and 1 printer that is more busy and has a delivery time of 3 days.
This means the prices for these printers are different and we want clients to be able to choose between a fast delivery with higher prices, or a slower delivery with lower pricing.
On the overview page of 3D hubs this seems to work fine with a "from: " pricing and “1-3 days” delivery time. However, when actually submitting a print a client can select materials, which makes the price switch automatically to the 1 day delivery printer with the highest price.
We would suggest letting the client make this decision. Do they either want a quick delivery, or a lower price.
I found… while it is annoying… to name materials slightly different for your cheaper printer. I had to do this for one of my printers… while it has same colors as my primary printer the filament diameter was different between the 2 machines so I added a pre-fix to the color to indicate it was for the other printer… in my case I have a UM2 and a D4… UM2 lists a “white” while my D4 lists “D4 - White” this forces the order to my D4 printer rather than the higher cost UM2 printer.
This method appears to work fine with my past orders. I have asked my customers about the orders (for both printers) and the orders processed from correct printers as they expected…
Hi @vawontwerp, as @JATMN pointed out, in order to avoid customers switch in between printers when choosing materials (for example), you have to rename the filament/ materials for each printer. It’s a bit more time consuming, but it does the job.
Sorry for the annoyance, we could work on improving the usability for this. I’ll bring it up with my colleagues - @petervl! - and add it to the ‘Revisit’ list Hope this helps!
Patience you must have, my young padawan! We’re constantly working on improvements, so as soon as we have the green light we’ll communicate them further to you guys. All I can say for now is ‘soon’
It would be nice as well to have like a checkbox or something for a client to be able to choose rush printing and have it automatically add a percentage to the charge. For example I have two main printers, but in order to charge extra for a rush job I have to list a completely different ghost printer with a higher price.
