Aftermarket WiFi interface for 3d printing

I have two Printerbot Simple Metal printers and a QIDI dual extruder on order. I know that none of these have a WiFi capability but wonder if I couldn’t use a small microcontroller like an Arduino or Rasberry PI to create a bridge. Has anyone tried this?
