I never had an issue as sever as yours in that only one axis would stop. Mine would just freeze up. I think I have eliminated the issue since I haven’t had any failed prints from freezing since. I basically rewired the entire bottom side of the printer to avoid EMI issues. You can see my wiring and…

Hi all, I’m using Makerbot Desktop Beta v. 3.8.1.168. Dual extruder makerbot clone but only printing using one extruder and PLA. When I print, the actual extruder head moves faster when printing support material than when printing model material. Its moving too fast, and I don’t always get good s…

Look like over extrusion to me. This guide may help. https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/ I’ve only used PLA on mine and have my build plate set to 0C aka no heating at all. I’m using the latest version of makerware with my move and extrusion speeds ~50 mm/s. I’ve atta…

Thanks. I’m on windows7

Hello, I re-wired my CTC to have all cables avoid the LCD and SD card area. Previously I had failures 4 hours and 8 hours in on separate, non-consecutive prints (total print time for job is 12 hours). I’m assuming fails are EMI/RFI related. [1108150148.jpg] Since my CTC came with a metal body, …

I always print over SD. Never USB. I think it may be EMI or SD card related. I was able to do a 12 hour job successfully but just today it crashed after 4 hours. I will need to try a new SD card and try to clean up wires. I will attempt to clean up wires according to this thread: Redirecting to G…

Thanks for all the input guys. I’ll let you know how my tests go on debugging this. Unfortunately I won’t have access to my printer for a few days.

Hello all, I was 45 minutes into a print and it randomly stopped. Everything goes fine and the extruder just suddenly freezes. All the fans and electronics are still one. I scroll thru the menus, hit pause, and resume. Pausing and resuming does nothing. At this point I have to cancel the job. I fl…

I’m using Makerbot Desktop 3.4.1.48 with the stock firmware on the actual printer (not sailfish)

Update: I added a cooling fan and slowed down my feed and travel rates. Overall print quality increased. Current settings are: Infill: 15 Shells: 2 Layer height: 0.1mm L Temp: 230 R Temp: 205 (Tried 200-220) Bed: OFF Extruding Speed: 40 Traveling Speed: 50 I’ve tried combos of 215/30/30, 2…

You might be able to find what you need here: http://www.makers3dzen.com/category-s/115.htm I am no way affiliated with that company nor have I ever used them. I saw a posting they had in a google group.

I added the fan except its just always on right now. I don’t have the mosfet or a switch yet. I just jam the fan with a piece of PLA until the first few layers are done and then take out the stopper. Print quality is up but not to my satisfaction. It seems like from this point it is guess and test. …

added the fan and slowed down the rate. Improved quality but there are still some issues in the same spots. Just not as dramatic. I’ll have to play around with the speeds. Thanks!

Do you have a picture of this zip tie mod? Thanks!

Hello all, I tried printing a Marvin, and it did not come out well at all. I tried using CTC’s suggested settings but that was even worse. Machine: CTC Bizer II (basically a makerbot dual clone with a metal body) Electronics: Stock Upgrades: Y- pillow blocks, Spring loaded drive block Software:…

Y axis pillow block: Replicator/FF Y-Shaft Pillow Block, with drill guide by garyacrowellsr - Thingiverse, this should work, no? Spring style MK8- from my brief research MK8 is a type of drive gear. I think the Bizer II comes with a MK7. The basic idea behind this upgrade is to have a spring loaded…

Thanks for that information. Can you please explain a little more about the 100kOhm thermistor? So the printer uses a thermistor soldered to the bottom of the build plate. The resistance is a function of temperature and the control board uses this resistance value to decide if the plate is warm eno…

Thanks for all your feedback. I was able to get in contact with customer service. They seem to have some in stock in California. Los Angeles specifically so shipping for me shouldn’t be more than $20. That is what customer service told me via e-mail. I guess I’m on my own after I receive the printe…

Has anyone purchases a CTC printer directly from CTC and had it shipped to the USA? 1. How was your customer service experience? 2. How much was shipping? 3. Was shipping timely? 3. Did your printer come in undamaged and working? I just ordered a Bizer II directly and want to make sure I will n…

Hi iCloud, Do you have links to where I can get your said upgrades- mainly the upgraded heated bed sensor and extruder? Thanks!

Hi Robert, It seems like you have intimate knowledge of CTC printers. I’m going to order one and was wondering if you had any recommended locations to buy these 4 upgrades you speak of. I’d like to have them in house when my printer arrives. Additionally, do you have any recommended software upgra…

Eduardo, I think I’m going to buy the CTC printer. Do you have a list of upgrades (software and hardware) that you recommend? Thanks!

Wow. Very helpful and informative. Thank you!

Hello, I have seem several 3D printers offer their printers in metal or wood frames. Has anyone noticed a difference in quality in having a metal vs wood frame? I’m assuming the advantage of having a metal frame is increased mass therefore dampened vibration in the overall printer when the head z…

Thanks for that reply. It seems like all these makerbot clones will behave the same. I just need to get the software dialed in. Thanks!

Has anyone had an experience with the CTC Bizer III? I am looking into purchasig my first 3-d printer and am looking into the CTC Bizer III, Flashforge Creator pro and the PowerSpec 3D Pro. All are essentially Makerbot Clones. Thanks!
