Has anyone had an experience with the CTC Bizer III?
I am looking into purchasig my first 3-d printer and am looking into the CTC Bizer III, Flashforge Creator pro and the PowerSpec 3D Pro. All are essentially Makerbot Clones.
Thanks!
I have never used it but it looks interesting. If it’s the same quality as my ctc, you might have to do some mods to the extruder or put pillow blocks for better print quality, but out of the box it should be decent and for the price it’s not bad. Never used the power spec but the flashforge is the same as mine and for what I paid I would do the ctc again and make the mods I have done till now and still spend half the cost and the same quality prints. It’s all fine tuning the slicer and upgrade to sailfish if you get the flashforge or ctc.
Thanks for that reply. It seems like all these makerbot clones will behave the same. I just need to get the software dialed in.
Thanks!
Eduardo,
I think I’m going to buy the CTC printer. Do you have a list of upgrades (software and hardware) that you recommend?
Thanks!
These mods are for a ctc creator which is just like the flashforge. Not a bizer III.
What I would do is software, upgrade to sailfish. I don’t know if the ctc bizer III is supported by sailfish. I would buy simplify 3d , the $150 seems high but it’s definitely worth it.
Also calibrate the nozzle properly.
Hardware:
pillow blocks for the y axis rods
glass on top of the bed with the proper z stop piece to account for the extra thickness.
Filament guide ( don’t use the guide tubes it brings. They suck)
upgrade the extruder to a spring style mk8-print it in abs
enclose your printer
z axis support
replacement parts; get thermocouples mine failed after 500 hours which is not bad.
Thats all I got.
Y axis pillow block: Replicator/FF Y-Shaft Pillow Block, with drill guide by garyacrowellsr - Thingiverse, this should work, no?
Spring style MK8- from my brief research MK8 is a type of drive gear. I think the Bizer II comes with a MK7. The basic idea behind this upgrade is to have a spring loaded extruder to keep constant tension on the filament regardless of diameter, correct? I will make one initially to fix whatever drive gear the CTC bizer II comes with.
Thanks!
