Hey everyone,

My DaVinci 1.0 has been printing really weird lately. The layers seem to get out of line. It will print one or two layers, and then the next ones will be an inch further back, and so on and so on. I don’t know if it’s a firmware issue or what. The sliced files look fine. I just re-flashed it from Repetier to the XYZ firmware, but I don’t know if the firmware corresponds with the model. I don’t remember what the version under “Info”>>“System Version” was, but I do know that on the LCD both lowercase and uppercase letters were displayed. I have no idea what is wrong. Any help is appreciated!!!

Could it be the short belt that runs from the back right stepper motor. Could be loose or tearing.

We had a similar problem with our DaVinci and found that the tension of the belts was to blame. Once we’d properly tensioned them the quality of our prints improved quite dramatically. It might be worth investigating a potential hardware issue opposed to laying the blame on firmware. Best Alexi

it sounds like Y axis problem, check belts, or Y axis motor is shot,

Have you tried slicing it just using the xyz ware. I know xyz sometimes tries sneaky little things in the printer firmware to discourage third party slicers. That is the one thing I don’t like about them, the printers aren’t bad and the slicer is OK but the stuff they do to sabotage people from making adjustments is uncool.

Nevermind, I read to quick and didn’t see the part that you reflashed back to xyzware.

Need pictures of the prints to discern between possible issues. Is it the same axis every time? Have you tried changing the print/travel acceleration? If you have a 1.0A you cant flash back, so I assume it’s just a 1.0. Flashing back shouldn’t help anyways, although I’ve seen motor issues after flashing (1.0a motor issues davinci - Google Search 3). I changed the travel/print move acceleration to 500 (vs 1000) in the EEPROM settings and it I haven’t noticed any issues since.

Hey everyone,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. It was the short belt, it needed to be re-tensioned. So I got that fixed. But now it won’t extrude. It will when i press load, but when i go to print it won’t at all. I checked, and there is plenty of space between the extruder and print bed, and sometimes when I pull the filament out, it has this weird notch on it like the gears were slipping. There is no clicking noise, though. I checked the gears, and they seem okay, but I don’t really understand the gear system or bearings on the motor.
