Small Prints

Im looking to have small prints created size 6mm x 2mm x 1mm with small letter detailing. I currently use a Makerbot Rep 2 and the detailing is way to small. Ive been thinking the only way is to go the cnc route. attached is the print sample and stl screen shot. The final option is making it bigger, which i have but i would like to know if any printers could print with this detail at this size. What do you guys think?

You’ll have better luck with an SLA resin printer. These printers can typically achieve greater detail than FDM (extrusion based) systems.

You could also try micro engraving or laser engraving. That is if plastic material not your only option.

My suggestion would be too use an SLA printer like the Form 1 or 1+ to test and if youre not getting the detail you want then engrave the letters using a laser cutter.

Yup. SLA is the way to go. Or DLP, which amounts to the same thing.

I have an SLA Form1+ and would be glad to print that. I can assure you the quality will be very detailed even at that small size of model. Currently have black, white, and gray resin.

You can laser engrave plastic. It works nicely with 3D prints as long as you don’t burn them.

with form1 + we have make a human skull of hight 10 mm full detailed ( i mean skull stiches, tooth ,bones ) allfull detailed ,such details are very hard for every FDM printer the best solution is to print them in SLA machine

Try an SLA machine like the form 1 and 1+. These can make tiny details. Try looking up smallest Marvin and you’ll find lots of small, detailed prints. Or you could try making it higher at the top as this might help the lettering a bit. Also try running at 10mm/s or close to that. That’s how I get detailed prints.
