Hey everyone! This is Fleet, creator of the LockNesters that you might know from the 3D Hubs platform. The LockNesters are three dimensional 3D printed puzzles, like a jigsaw puzzle that’s been wrapped around a 3D object. We’re just launching a new website, locknesters.com, on which you can design your own puzzle. Check it out! The site will go live for purchases on Friday, all of the LockNesters are printed through the 3D Hubs platform
The LockNester have been up to a lot lately, I thought I’d share some of their latest activities. Thanks everyone!
Dinner at the Alberts’ last weekend! The whole family enjoyed a bit of hangout time before the week ahead, it’s so like the Alberts to have a courteous, polite meal together!
Getting ready for dinner last Sunday, the whole family pitched in!
A few last minute preparations getting everything on the table before digging in!
At last everyone gathered around the table to eat.
After dinner, Kid-Albert helped out with a few dishes.
The following night, Parent Alberts enjoyed a nice, quiet meal alone

This absolutely made my day, kids would love this! Congrats for putting together such an entertaining setup. How difficult are the prints though? Never tried printing puzzles, but I assume it ain’t no easy work getting those shapes right.

Hey boydconnor! Thanks for the kind words, there will be more to come! The LockNesters print pretty easily, though you’re right, designing them was a challenge, tough to get them to hold together!
I can imagine! How did the the idea of a puzzle bear come about @Igor_4? JUst curious

Good one, Boyd! I’m actually curious about it myself. I mean it’s a really fun project, I’m sure it has a great story
Ha, yes, I guess it’s a good story. Long story short, I’ve always been obsessed w/ puzzles, and a few years ago when my nephew, Otis, was born, I decided he should have an updated version of the classic jigsaw puzzle to play with as he grew. So I set out to design a ‘3d jigsaw puzzle’ that could hold it’s form just by the way the pieces fit together. I first designed a puppy, and named him Otis, of course:) He took 4 or 5 iterations to work (thank god for 3d printing), but finally I started to understand what type of geometry would allow the pieces to hold together, and come apart.
Eventually the line expanded to include five characters, including the bear, Albert. I’m always on the lookout for new characters, have a few things in the works now. You can check out all the LockNesters at www.locknesters.com, and there’s a blog on the home page w/ all their latest activities.
Thanks for the comments Boyd, love hearing feedback!
