Ha, yes, I guess it’s a good story. Long story short, I’ve always been obsessed w/ puzzles, and a few years ago when my nephew, Otis, was born, I decided he should have an updated version of the classic jigsaw puzzle to play with as he grew. So I set out to design a ‘3d jigsaw puzzle’ that could hold it’s form just by the way the pieces fit together. I first designed a puppy, and named him Otis, of course:) He took 4 or 5 iterations to work (thank god for 3d printing), but finally I started to understand what type of geometry would allow the pieces to hold together, and come apart.
Eventually the line expanded to include five characters, including the bear, Albert. I’m always on the lookout for new characters, have a few things in the works now. You can check out all the LockNesters at www.locknesters.com, and there’s a blog on the home page w/ all their latest activities.
Thanks for the comments Boyd, love hearing feedback!
