How is the bed being supported with larger or heavier prints?

Hi
The simple test I did was…
1) put on 2 x 1KG rolls of filament on the bed to test stability whilst moving and z Axis movement.
2) put on 1KG roll of filament right at the front of the bed mid print and observed 0.9 mm of movement in the layer.
given the machine could easily move with 2 kg and only 0.9mm of movement was evident the layer when 1kg of weight was added mid print, over the coarse of a large print the incremental weight increase would easily dissipate through the layers with no adverse affect. Please also bear in mind the 1kg was added right at the front edge of the bed giving an uneven weight distribution, (thinking on worse case scenario).
The z axis guide rods operate independently from the Y and X Axis and are using 12mm rod and bearings
Thanks for the question and hopes this helps to answer it.

When do you expect to have the instructable ready? I own three printers already, but I’m ready to build my own, and this is the one.

Looks good. I did the same, building an enclosure for an Prusa i3. Not as nice as what you have setup though. Great job.

If you want to buy powerful & cheap 3D Printer… auto leveling
(NO MORE wasting TIME - 30sek. & Ready To Go)
super basic to use Cura 3D Printing Slicing Software …MICROMAKE D1 … https://youtu.be/kXie0oyaHKo
That is huge and looking good. Looking forward for the £260 Guide and BOM.

All being well I hope to have the instructible published with in the next 10 days.
sorry if that’s a bit long but given the amazing interest this project now call PRINTTABLE is generating I want to ensure the instructible as easy to follow as possible.
Thanks for interest and comments and please build one as soon as it’s published.

Most of the parts are available relatively easy. All parts will be available at the currently under construction site PRINTTABLE.com . The core premise is a total open source project at its core building on a worldwide common platform being the LACK Table range. The more modifications, developments and enhancements made the more the community will benefit.
thanks for the interest and your support.
looking forward to the instructables…don’t forget 2 add a donate me button
Any update on an instructables? will it be on instructables.com ?

We will be working hard over the weekend in an attempt to publish on Monday.
Please check out our preview. Printtable Short - YouTube
Our aim is to ensure the instructable is easy to follow.
Thanks for your patience.
Very Nice!! Looking forward to this!!
Hi,
I am very glad that you want to share your project on how to create a very cool 3D-printer.
However, my concern is that I’m not the big programmer, I have only programmed very simple machines before (e.g. a multiple pill dispenser a year ago).
Will there also be a very simple guide on the programming and coding part of the project, or will I have to find a place to learn this beforehand?
But again, thanks for sharing your project with us.
Regards
Mikkel
This is amazing. Can’t wait to see the instructable.

Hi Mikkel
No programming required as such.
The beauty of this project is it uses the smoothieware firmware and a simple configuration file which is edited in notepad or other simple txt format.
Thanks
