Hi @Enza3D, do you have a verified Paypal account already, that’s what we’re checking? If you do and still get an error, please make sure the First and Last name match with your Paypal account. Let me know if that fixes the error.

Hey @CatalystService, sorry for the lack of communication, we’ve got email notifications queued up to go out on Monday. Existing Hubs won’t be taken offline for not completing verifications, we’ll update the text on the page to reflect that.
Best,
Brian
@jfield I also published some more info on the verification project here: Talk Manufacturing | Hubs
Hope all is clear(er) now, but of course I’m here to answer any questions or feedback!

Hey @3DVest, looks like you actually have to fill in your Business Name in both first and last name field. According to this stack overflow post: How can I verify a Paypal account registered under a business name using GetVerifiedStatus? - Stack Overflow
Can you give that a try and let me know if it works for you?
Hey @UVic_3D, address verification is not required for existing Hubs like yourself. Also we won’t show your address anywhere on the site, except for customer who you allow to pick up orders at your Hub. If you allow pickups, is something you can choose, so the ‘risk’ of you address being exposed to customers is very small.
Having your address verified, does help us combat fraudulent Hubs who are putting Hubs in strategic locations, when shipping from other countries or states, which really is a poor experience for customers. Something that reflects negatively on the whole 3D Hubs platform, that’s the reason why we really like Hubs to verify their details.
Does that make sense?
Oke, we’ll do some more testing and get back to your tomorrow.
Then why not have the mail verification directly with the hub, and then allow the hub to have a specified pick up location? This would be ideal for both parties imo. I have no issue with 3dhubs knowing my home address at all, but it’s the whole customers just simply showing up at your front door that disturbs me a bit. Not to mention the whole safety factor. I had one gentlemen literally just show up at my house one day, and I was like I’m sorry who are you? Lol… Then if I don’t do the mail verification I get penalized by a lower ranking in the search results which isn’t exactly fair either. We still have a 5 star rating, and every customer has been thrilled with our service and the end product. So it seems a bit unfair to lower out search ranking because we are concerned about safety etc… Give some thought to the multi step verification thing I mentioned above… that way you guys verify hubs, and hubs can choose a local location for pickups. Thanks for the quick response
Hey 3DUVic, thanks for thinking along. I agree that having your address verified then allowing you to choose a different but nearby pickup location would be a possible solution. I’ll look into it and see if this is really the best way to solve it and how we can prevent Hubs from choosing strategic pickup locations without actually offering pickup there.

I had an issue with this, and indeed I was using my shortened name and Paypal uses my longer version.
Thanks Brian, That would definitely take care of any privacy concerns some hubs like ours may have. Looking forward to hearing if this is something that could be implemented. Cheers
Looks like it worked using the longer version, good to hear.
Hi @Brian
I got my paypal verified now. Looks like it wasn’t enough to only have the account connected to my paypal account, but needed to connect a creditcard as well. Filled in my first and last name (business contact info) and the verification got an OK.
Great to hear that JayPee, it will help other users get their business accounts verified more easily.
I would like to second the sentiment about people randomly showing up without previous arrangement. It happened 3 times to us and it was not pleasant. A 3d hubs help desk person suggested we use the address of our pickup nearby pickup location, which we do.
We are not, interested in auto handing out of our address. At all. That is the point of making the customer arrange a pickup. We do not ever want pickups from our house. And certainly don’t want someone showing up at any time of day because they want their print, no matter who is at home at the time.
I’d have no problem putting my address in and verifying it, if I was assured that it wouldn’t be handed out. We arrange pickup locations, that is the best safest and most convenient for all involved.
Hey Brian,
Any news on this? I live in an appartment and I have safety concerns too. I have public places within 500m of my location that I would be pleased to go to, to meet a customer. I just don’t want random people showing up at my place. Furthermore, my landlord wouldn’t be happy at all and I would like him not to think I’m into shady/illegal stuff.
Thanks
