I just got a BCN3D Sigma, which got great reviews, but I haven’t gotten a single good print out of it so far. I have been using 3D printers for about 7 years (I’m a HS tech teacher), but I’m not pro, just experienced, so I know the general things to do (calibration, temp settings, etc).
The filament seems to have a really inconsistent extrusion (see this image) so I end up with a see-through print that is almost like a mesh. I have tried changing the print temp (from 185 up to 205) but always get similar results.
Any other ideas?
TIA
Hard to see really but I would say it could be under extrusion.
With the temp you listed I assume you are using PLA?
What print speeds?

Hi @leejones15 that’s certainly a mess! Further to wirlybird’s comment, what slicer are you using? Does it have a default profile for the Sigma?
Even for PLA, 185C is low and it might be that 205C still isn’t high enough depending on the brand and/or the machine characteristics, I’ve had some PLA/machine combinations that needed 210C (although never higher than that).
It could also be underextrusion as wirlybird says, machines can vary quite a lot in this respect so what works for your other machines may need to change for the Sigma. For example, I’ve one machine that needs a 0.90 multiplier and another that needs 0.99 for the same filament.
The only other thing I can think of is that maybe the nozzle is obstructed. Is the machine new or used?
