I have a Printrbot Simple Metal and just upgraded the bed size to 6x10. I’m wondering if anyone knows how to change the bed size of your printer on 3dhubs. I’d like to advertise that I can’t print bigger prints, but I can’t seem to find a way to adjust the size.
You could change the printer name from printrbot to “custom printer” or DIY… I’d recommend to state your upgrade and capabilities in the hub description. Maybe this is the point and time to ask @Filemon and his colleagues about the printer naming on 3dHubs. I’m building my own printer too and I would like to know if there’s a way to make obvious to customers that my DIY printer isn’t some 100$ “crappy” printer build from cheap materials found in a hardware store. Instead I’m using aluminum profiles and precisely machined parts, which might even outrun brand name printers. Is it currently possible to post gif’s and videos additionally to pictures on the hub page? Maybe it would help to show off the printer in such format rather than 20 pictures. Cheers, Marius Breuer
Hey @thattolleyguy, indeed as Marius mentioned, just go ahead and add same printer as Printrbot Simple Metal custom, while mentioning the upgrades you made. Thanks for the input @MB3D!
As for the GIFs and Youtube video, even though we do see the added value of this features, it’s still not possible to add them to your Hub page yet. We’ll keep you guys updated on this one though.
Agree. I’m in the same boat. I meticulously build my printers with nothing but the best components and they have capabilities that exceed most high end printers I’m aware of, yet what people see is “Other” with a grey question mark next to it. As much as I hate this, I have been hesitant to complain because I was hoping they scrap the printer branding all together. Many customers show up already confused and I don’t think this info is useful to most, especially since so many people end up making some mod to their off the shelf kit as well. I see the printer as kind of a paintbrush anyway. Have the best one is great, but it doesn’t mean you know how to paint. I really just want to be able to express what my capabilities are let the results speak for themselves. I definitely don’t think my grey question mark is helping…
