CTC Large Size - Change Filament issues

Hello people, I just bought a brand new CTC large from ebay and I am have trouble installing a new filament.

I have a smaller CTC dual 3d printer and changing filament is a breeze. The menue options on the machine guides you.

This new machine I just bought comes with an automatic filament loader that hangs at the back and it gives you instructions on how to load that and connect it, but it ends there. No further instructions on what to do to get your filament extruded. The screen controls dont help either. No menu option to load filament that I can find.

Does anyone else own this particular CTC and can you tell me how you change filament. Thanks.

Looks like a Bowden extruder to me. That’s a design where the extruder drive is separate to the hot end, which is in the print head. Makes for a much lighter head for lower inertia

you only have to load filament into the extruder - as you’ve done, and then extrude enough filament that it comes out of the hot end.

You our might well need quite different retraction settings to a normal extruder.
