I’m keen to catch up with anyone active in the Edinburgh area, anyone fancy a meet-up? I really enjoyed the Maker Speed Dater event the other week and would like to instigate a social gathering as I’m a big believer in the power of meeting your peers.

I just spotted your post about a meet-up and I just wanted to reach out a hand, and say “Hi”, as I’m a `Neighbour-hub!’
I’ve been out of the 3D Printing business for best part of last year but hope to get back into it again and get my printer back up and running. - To be honest I never managed to get my Hub up to speed before I suffered some hardware problems that have taken some time to fix.
I’ve attempted to build several of my own CNC machines & 3D Printers and I’m a professional CAD Draughtsman as trade (so all keyed up with the CAD side)
Anyway if you want to keep me posted to the meet-up detail I’m be keen to come along for a chat.

@EdinSimon, @Morphotechnics what does your availability look like? I’m working through in Glasgow just now so I’m available after 7pm most weeknights, can also do every second weekend starting with this weekend coming.

Have either of you messed around with 3d scanning? I’ve been having some fun drumming up a concept I’d like to collaborate with people on, it involves lots of clay, messy hands and scanned -> 3d printed outputs. Perhaps we could set an outcome for the event and mess with scanning things which we can then print, my local in Edinburgh would probably be up for letting us have the upstairs area to do what I call “Clay Dates”. A fun social and networking experience with a tangible physical output we can all take away from it.
They’re fantastic! What are you using for scanning / colour finishing?
I have bought Skanect and have managed to do low poly prints of me and my kids before I bought the full package. I need to try and do smaller objects but haven’t had time recently. I’d love to get into toys as I’ve always been a fan of vinyl collectables.
I’ve not had much experience with scanning, but I have worked with Point clouds & Autodesk Remap before so could provide some imput regarding those.
Always up for getting messy!!
If you let me know a time and place I’ll do my best to make it.

Do you commute to Glasgow by train? If so, would you like to get off at Falkirk High one evening. I could pick you up at the station, we could have a coffee and a chat and I could deliver you back to the station to complete your journey.

I’m actually driving it (I travel from North Queensferry) just now however would be happy to take a detour one evening. It wouldn’t even be a large detour as I’ve been going via the M9 / M876 etc on the way home.
Ok. I’m available tomorrow, Wed, Thurs this week but only Monday next week. Week commencing 29th I’m available every evening except Monday.
I may try and pop up tomorrow night if that’s okay? Sorry for the delayed response, I’ve had a bad back since November and have been laid up, am back in the office today but catching up on some stuff.

I haven’t forgotten this thread by the way folks, I’ve had an unexpected series of events which has lead to me having to move home, am offline for a couple weeks for the move and then normal service will be resumed. Slightly frustrating but that’s life I guess!
Will try and keep the balls in the air and continue to have discussion.
