Some how my throat screw snapped in two. It’s held together by the tube inside it, I believe that is PTFE tubing that runs in through there but not sure.

Anyhow, I see online where I can order a replacement but was wondering if you if this is a type of thing a hardware store would carry? I can’t imagine this screw was invented purely for 3D printers. There must be other applications for it. Does anyone know if a hardware store stocks something like this?

No, you can’t get them in the hardware store. It is designed only for i3 printers.

You can get them on eBay quite easily.
As they live in a hot environment, the tube must be made of PTFE otherwise it would melt.
I doubt a local hardware stall would have exactly the right size.
I know it’s frustrating to be short of parts, but its worth getting the correct tube otherwise it could clog up.

I thank you all for your help. I found a 5 piece set; 5 throats and 5 nozzles on Amazon with a two delivery. It was around $9 and I got shipping free for being a Prime susbscriber. I should get it on the 17th. If I wanted to wait a bit longer I definitely could have got them cheaper and waited for them to get here on a slow boat from China but I’ve been making Christmas ornaments with my kids and we would like them on the tree at Christmas. I really don’t know how that throat broke. We were just printing along and suddenly the hotend looked wrong.

I suppose I should close this out. I was curious and, perhaps I should close out this thread and ask in a new one, if any of you have switched extruders and which one you chose?

I recommend Titan aero but it your choice use it or no.

That Titan looks beautiful. Do you have one? How is changing filaments? It’s a pain in the ass on the A8 stock. I believe it’s by pure luck I’m ever able to change the filament. I hate it. Does the Titan work with the existing motor or would that need changed also?

Filament change in one click.
Titan work with any NEMA 17 but i change to 22mm because it is lighter in weight.

You need remember it Titan gearing ratio is 3:1 because small stepper work very well.
in default steps/mm = 837
I use the original and the Chinese model, they are almost the same. (100GBP+ vs ~30EUR)
