Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good summer. I’m curious, for those of you who have or have used 3D scanners, what is your favorite? What have you had experiences with and what are you interesting in using?

Ive used Agisoft Photoscan with a high end DSLR. For still objects great results can be achieved. Ive played with the MS Kinect as well, and its fun for hobbyists to try it out but the results are mediocre. The best setup ive used are the Artec structured light scanners (eva and spider) but I have gripes about those in that it takes a lot of time to process the scans after initial scanning. The scans are very high quality once you have done all of that. The scanners themselves have a hefty price tag and you’ll need a beefy computer to run both Photoscan and the Artec software. Hope that helps!
MS Kinect is nice for beginners
DSLR… yes that is the best especially with 4K cameras and a gimbal

Hey @nielswerf001, you should check out the @RamPrasad Talk channel too as many of the community members there are scanning.
@beto, @ & @ have some scanning experience across different hardware and software so may be able to offer some insight into the different technologies used and their hardware preferences.

Hi there, I have the Fuel3D Scanify, it is fun, fast, but it is works mostly for one face scans. The new release of their software has stitching capabilities, but as far as I had played with it, it does not do a good job at it.
Cheers!
Hi-
I would like to 3D scan something- do you know someone that would rent a scanner or offer that service of scanning ??
Also- do you know if it possible after scanning a object to measure real distances from the points of the objects? thanks

I offer this service and you can definitely measure the real distances from the resulting scan. Message me through my hub if you would like to know more!
This is the scanner I just purchased! I also have had excellent scans while out and about with the sense scanner by Cubify
