3d.waketech.edu Overview MODEL 3D “Manufacturing Original Didactic Experiences in Learning in 3D” is a three-year grant funded project at Wake Technical Community College that began in July 2014. Funding is through the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. MODEL 3D is a cross-divisional effort aimed at increasing student success in STEM-related courses, inviting a higher level of access to complex ideas for challenged students, and enhancing program quality in both applied and theoretical fields. The major goals of the Model3D Project are to: Revitalize STEM learning through the introduction of new technologies such as additive manufacturing; Reinforce all elements of the cycle of engineering design in both applied technologies and university transfer courses; Offer tangible solutions to increase access for students with physical challenges using universal design principles and best practices.
