Well done guys! I can’t believe how quickly these milestones are coming now. 10k feels like “ages” ago and 20k wasn’t very long ago at all. @filemon are we going to do a #weare30k with hub pictures? Cheers, Marc

Hi Hubs & 3D printing enthusiasts! We’d like to invite you to 3D Hubs co-polyester workshop, organized in collaboration with Colorfabb. We’ll be showcasing the various co-polyester filaments developed by Eastman and colorFabb. This is the ultimate opportunity to learn more about how nGen and _XT a…

Hey Kyle, I just split the model into separate files for the three solid bodies. The model is otherwise unchanged. If you need the model altered then it’s time to get your hands dirty and do some sculpting or find someone you can pay to do it for you. There aren’t any “automatic” tools that will do…

Hey Filemon, So far so good. Things are going well. I’ve already had 2 orders in the last 24 hours and both are printable (lol). First one is ready to ship and the second one is happily printing away. I have a quick question though. How do you gauge the number of orders a hub can handle? I only h…

Hi Marshall, A couple of things I noticed on your hub. Try and add some pictures of different coloured resins and prints to appeal to more people. Check the 3D printing trends reports to see which colours people go for. In the about us section try and be more personal. It reads a bit like a resume.…

Hey Sangini, Check out the new Colorfabb_HT. It’s food safe and dishwasher safe. http://ht.colorfabb.com/ Cheers, Marc

Great stuff Danny. I love hearing how other people solve problems. Adding a nested part for support is a great idea. I have a “toolbox” of shapes that I use for various things and now I’m thinking I can add a thin-shelled generic part that can be re-sized to fit various large cavities that take fore…

Hey Zipperboy, There are two thing I generally do when I don’t get enough support from checking “Generate Support” Go into the support tab under advanced setting sand change the “Support Pillar Resolution” from the standard 4mm to 2mm. The next thing to to try if the bottom surface of your overha…

Hi Filemon, Really excited about this. I suppose we can talk about it now! As a Thingiverse designer will I need to do anything to my designs other than make sure the license includes commercial use? As a Hub will I get a new badge? You may have guessed by now I love badges Cheers, Marc

Just charge a price that you’re happy to work for and reflects your experience and quality of work.

Hey Lee, I find the easiest approach is to start off by ask a list of questions to clarify the requirements. This will give you a good feel of what the project is (especially if you ask your questions in the right way). Push back to the client to make sure they fully define the requirements. This w…

Hey Carter, My advice would be the same. Have a look on Yeggi for what you need to see if something similar exists. If you have a specific requirement and need something modelled for you then please send me a request and I’d be more than happy to help you out. Cheers, Marc

Hey Lee, I offer 3D CAD modelling as a service both through my hub and directly via my website. I usually charge £25/hour and try to give a time estimate up front. That said, you usually need to gauge the customer (and how busy you are) and price accordingly. If someone needs a cookie cutter for th…

Hey Howard, I’ve sent you an email, but will post a link to the model I found here for other to see. I can’t vouch for the site though as I’ve not used them before. Cheers, Marc

Have you got a picture/measurements of what the underside of the part looks like? I assume it fits onto a shaft of some sort. You can import the .stl that Roks has very kindly done for you into Tinkercad and make the mod to include the hole for the shaft. Cheers, Marc

Hi Maximilian, Is there a reason this needs to be printed as one part? A simple approach is break the model up into parts that will fit on your build plate and then glue them together once printed. If you really need to print as one part you can upload your part to 3Dhubs and it will only show hubs…

Hi Alexa, That sounds like an interesting project. What sort of scent medium do you have in mind? Will it be liquid or solid? I ask because I’m thinking about what would happen to the scent medium when the cup is tilted as the user drinks. Have you tested the idea yet or will the 3D printed cup be …

Typically you’re going to see layer lines from FDM printing. If you’re willing to put in the effort you can sand the parts to get a smooth finish. Alternatively I can “polish” the parts for you using a rock tumbler. You will lose the sharp edges and fine details doing this though. If you want to pri…

Hi Daniel, Your first post on the Simplify3D forums will be moderated. I’m not sure what that error code means, but I assume it must have something to do with a connection error. If you login to your account the Simplify3D site, do you see any machines activated? Cheers, Marc
