Print not sticking to my Da Vinci Mini

I recently got a Da Vinci Mini and i know it doesn’t have a heated build plate which is a bummer… I put on the tape and pressed print and it draws a line along the side (which doesn’t stick) holds onto it and continues to spit out filament. Do i need to lower the extruder so it will touch the plate …
