Ok I am still new to 3D printing and I have a question about the slicer that comes with my Da Vinci printer…I know own everyone is telling me not to use the one that comes with it… my question is how come sometimes when I bring a 3D model into the slicer to print it is blue and other times it is black? I know that black usually means it will print bad…what causes that?
I suppose there could be an error in the STL file, have you checked and repaired the file? makeprintable.com 64 is a good free automated repair service.
the xyzware that comes with only makes a simple gcode where as simplify3d makes a more detailed gcode which makes the print 100x better also it gives you a gcode preview so you can see exactly what your printer is going to do and where supports will be placed
with your bad stl files download netfab basic import your file and hit the red + sign this will check for errors and repair them
