We are having a problem with the retraction leaving dirt. We are printing with bowden. This is the printing configuration of the pieces:
- Layer height: 0.3mm
- Infill density: 5%
- Speed: 50mm/s
- Retraction speed: 50mm/s
- Retraction distance: 12mm
- Temp: 250C
We’ve proved these other retraction parameters:
75mm/s - 4.5mm / 50mm/s - 4.5mm / 25mm/s - 4.5mm / 75mm/s - 10mm / 50mm/s - 10mm

You probably could try to print a little cooler, XT prints between 240-250c
and maybe adjust the retract settings, it could be that for certain gaps it does not retract.
and also lowering the speed could help, with high speed you get more pressure in the bowden tube,
and can get some oozing while retracting.

Try the “coasting” steering, if you’re using Simplify3D. This setting causes the extruder to stop X mm before the retraction. This helps to lower the pressure in the bowden tube, as Xeno mentioned.

Hi,
What is your travel speed set at? Increasing this will also help break the ‘melt’ of the material when jumping between islands. @pomaer coasting is good tip, really great setting in Simplify which usually allows you to use lower / less retraction speed and distance. @Xeno also made a good point about the temperature, see if it’s possible to lower to 240C.
Hey @rufox Did reducing the temperature work? Let us know if you managed to get it right
Hi Rufox, what’s you extrusion acceleration? Try with 5.000 or+
Increasing travelling acceleration and speed also will help you.
I am also having this issues. Maybe is because we are in summer and temperature&humidity are different. Try to dry the material in a oven at 50ºC for one hour.
