i am looking to cosplay zero from code geass and was wondering if a helmet like this could be possible to print out with the visor being see though and the rest of it being plastic or other material. link to image for a reference point http://imgur.com/qLIQ5m5

Yes if wisely constructed. Helmet would need to be designed in smaller pieces to be printable on most printers and in different materials. Then it would need to be assembled and some post processing work would be required.

Good example is the storm trooper helmet: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/star-wars-storm-trooper-vii-fully-wearable-helmet-12992

The visor might be tricky, but there are some clear filaments like T-glase from Taulman, and they can be treated to look clearer, but it still might give you limited visibility, here is an example:

Yup, definitely. I did a full Helmet recently ( http://saraandherwolves.tumblr.com/post/133761047595/side-project-for-halloween ) it was nothing special like the storm trooper helmet previously mentioned since it was done fairly quickly and was just painted raw (no sanding down or coating) but if you have any questions on modeling/construction/ welding/ finishes I’d be more than happy to give you a step by step on how to do it. My suggestion is to look up 3d-models of helmets and see how they are broken down into parts for printing. You need to be really clever to avoid the seams from showing in obvious places.

Good Luck!

There are sites that sell acrylic domes and half ovals. It would simply be a matter of integrating the dome or oval into the 3d printed outer shell of the mask. Would you want it finished? I am currently working on a Destiny helmet and costume for a client with a similar design. PM me uf you need simething made.

As pointed out by others printing the mask/helmet part isn’t a problem but I wouldn’t even attempt the visor. Maybe this can be sourced from somewhere else.

I’ve attached some photos of a few helmets I have done, as they come off the printer and roughly taped together so you can see the shape.

yes very possible… I have done several helmets and its just a matter of getting the size correct

Yeah that would be relatively simple. But i would not try to print the visor, i would just make it out of some sort of tinted film, or try and heat form it with a vacuum form using clear plastic. (here is a link explaining how to make one/ what they are) (Prop: Shop - How to Make a Vacuum Forming Machine - YouTube)
