Hi
I designed and printed a very simple solder sponge holder and I added the words “solder” and “sponge” to the top and bottom facing. The print was almost perfect: the shape is perfect, “Solder” printed perfectly, but “Sponge” is missing the “nge”. In their place are 2 very small posts, see photo.
I used tinkercad and the file looks right. I used the text icon to first create “Sponge” then duplicated it to create “Solder”.
I’m using a recently purchased Prusa MK3 and used PrusaControl which is their simplified slicer app with presets. I’ve successfully printed 4 name tags with a similar design, just smaller so I’m sure the calibration is good. Also using Prusa filament which should be good quality.
Does anyone know or would anyone care to speculate why 3 letters failed to print?
Thanks,
Suzan
Hi @SuzanK
Could you upload the .stl or .obj file you used for slicer?
Before looking into the file I have a few guesses:
- The binary file is incomplete. Could be a vertex missing, partially exported as shell,…
- The file is too large for slicer to handle. The file size limit varies between different slicers, but usually after ~20mb they give up. Sometimes disable auto support helps.
- Somehow the 3 letters is exported as separate objects and you have not config your slicer to print all at the same time.
