Anthony,

I own a duplicator I3 and I have to say I love it.

Now granted my frame of reference is low, it is my only/first printer.

I chose it due to the steel frame mainly, and I suppose the price point is nice.

Prints come out very nicely if you do properly calibration.

It seems to have a very good user group, if small?

There is a wiki hosted by the user base and a solid google groups that answers questions - both offer great insight and support as well as several mods that make the printer even better.

I’d give it a 5 star rating but a few things had to be done out of the box to make it more solid (items that Wanhao appears to be addressing with each iteration of the product), so far now I’d say it is a 4/5 from my experience (got it July 3rd, logged 38 print days).

Do yourself a favor and look up 3dprinterbrain and visit the google group to see what all people have been challenged with and the modifications people have come up with.

Good luck with your choice!

@ckhamken

Thank you for your help i will check 3d printer brain and google group and thanks for your feedback

Best of luck

Regards

I agree that this printer is good – with a bit of TLC setting it up. I just got one, and we’ve been working on it for about two weeks trying to get it modified to work well. I agree that 3dprinterbrain.com 2 is a great source for information. James and Vernon have catalogued some great modifications for it that help a lot. Of course I prefer the Wanhao D5 and D5S (have both), but they can’t print ninjaflex!!! (thus the I3)

Hi! I just bought my duplicator i3 a couple of days ago based on different recommendations, among others “Jetguy” og youtube. You can look for some of his videos on youtube and go to 3d Printer Tips and Mods Wiki 3 for more information.

I have never owned a 3D printer before, so i have to say, the learning-curve is steep! It didn’t take too long before i got my first small print and right now I’m working on a few big ones.

I think the duplicator is a great printer if you give it some love, it needs a “handy hand”. My x-axis belt kept slipping on mine etc. But now I’ve worked out most of the querks, printed legs, adjustment screws, extruder skate and some small figures. I have to say it’s a really good printer and I am very pleased that i bought it as for now. I don’t have experience with more expensive printers, but this sure does the job for me.

Was there anything in particular you were thinking of?

Hello Anthony,

The Wanhao Duplicator i3 is a great hobby printer to start with, many filament options make it versatile, the stand alone unit makes it portable, and the print quality is great for the cost!
