What do you think about the new Wanhao duplicator 6?. Do you think that it’s going to be in a similar level as Zortrax M200?
Unfortunately, I don’t see any Chinese printer being quite as good as the Zortrax M200. Chinese printers usually use barely-sufficient to mid-ranged parts in an attempt to keep costs down (luckily Wanhao leans more towards the mid-ranged generally), whereas most European and American companies stuck purely with the best of the best. I’m pretty sure Zortrax fits in that category. Zortrax also has a much more tightly controlled ecosystem, with everything from the slicer to the filament, which gives it consistency and ease of use that Cura+whatever random filament you’re using just can’t match. And I know for a fact that Zortrax’s customer service is phenomenal, whereas most Chinese companies (including Wanhao, it seems) barely stand by their products at all.
That’s why they cost so much less. Ultimately, it’s up to a customer whether they want to save money or get good service.

if it is anything like my Duplicator i3 it should be pretty good, I like the specs, depending on the reviews I might pick one up as a second printer.
The Wanhao Duplicator 6 is just like the Zortax and also you can add the panels made for the Zortrax on it and someone has told me the Zortrax bed fits also. I did a simple unboxing on it and will do a review later at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpreLLCWKcs. We also started a facebook group at Redirecting... which I will add some pictures when my new camera is here. I’m impressed with it so far and the quality is great. Its simple to setup and I could see this lasting a long time.
A few months down the track and we have sold heaps of the Duplicator 6’s. They have received almost no negative feedback which is great for us. We seem to mostly sell the D6’s to engineering firms etc who need a bit higher quality print then you would get from a standard i3 printer but don’t necessarily need the larger build volume.
Overall from our experience it’s not as good as the Zortrax M200, certainly nothing to laugh at with the print quality it produces. But we have to keep in mind the price point is completely different with a M200 coming in upwards of $1800 and a Duplicator 6 coming in at $799. That’s the price we offer, anyway. You can view it on our store here as well https://beautiful3dprinters.com/collections/frontpage/products/wanhao-duplicator-d6-professional-quality-affordable-priced-steel-frame-printer
Anyone have any idea if the top cover would fit on a real Zortrax M200 if you were to cut off the feet ?
That is something that the real Zortrax is sorely lacking and I was wondering since this is a clone, it might fit.
Opinions vary, It is a good 3d printer under $700 ( $699 on amazon http://amzn.to/2xKRauZ )
I have complited on my blog a lot of tips and improvements for our printer Monoprice Maker Ultimate (MMU) 151710 and Wanhao Duplicator 6 (D6). This list is not exhaustive.
I hope this will help newbees. Feel free to comment, share, and complete !
