I’m pretty new to 3D printing. I’ve started playing with a Monoprice Maker Ultimate printer, which is a rebadged Wanhao Duplicator 6. I’ve had pretty good results using the spool of PLA that came with the printer, but when I tried switching to ABS my results were less than stellar. The two problems I’m having are that the prints are coming out “rougher” than the PLA equivalents and it is absolutely impossible to separate the prints from the rafts. Could this be a temperature issue?
Could be a bunch of issues. I suggest looking at this addy for more information and help on any Wanhao D6.

If this does not come up do a fb group search for Wanhao Duplicator 6. Either can help with your problems. I also suggest updating the firmware to the rc8 updated version. Cheers and i will see you in these groups.
Might be. Do you have an enclosure?
Hi,
Post a picture, always. But by your description, this may be due to extrussion problems ( nozzle temperature ), or bad ABS, maybe many things, that’s why a picture may help a lot, a closer good one.
For ABS, I’m printing with regular glass bed (3mm) at 100, with hair spray (I never used abs juice, but you can try). That assures you a perfect bottom surface, no need for rafts. No need for special glass, can be regular ( it breaks easy so you may have to replace it in time to time or buy an expensive option )
Check that… everything about the nozzle, and the extruder stepper motor. The tips about the bed are just to tell you how you can print without a raft.
You may or may not use nozzle fan… if you print with enclosure ( a must for ABS ). But the rule use to be not to use it… ( I use it from the 3rd layer at very low rpm ).
Good luck! ABS is not easy but it’s great when you manage to deal with it.
Hello,
Temperature for ABS on D6: nozzle 235-240 and bed 100. Replace the original buildtak by 2mm glass, us 3DLAC or Dimafix with (or abs juice) and it’s perfect. (more than PLA…:). Last thing, you need enclosure !
