I have a Wanhao duplicator 4 and when I tell it to preheat or to build something it starts to heat up but doesn’t read a temp just says waiting and it says that until I get a #1 error saying temperature has reached it limit please shut mac time off or restart or until I shut the machine off once the filament is smoking because it gets so hot even though I have the temp set to 150. Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated and a recommendation on a different 3d printing program.

Hi there,

The issue here is almost certainly the thermistor on your hotend, it will need to be replaced. I would recommend contacting the supplier your bought your machine from directly to figure out the specs required in a new thermistor. I personally prefer the m3 stud thermistors, they’re much easier to replace than the ones that require a screw + washer.

I would advise against running your machine at all until this is fixed.

Ok thanks I’ll get one ordered and replace it to see if that helps.

Could there be any other part that is bad that way I can order all the parts and get them at the same time.

I would recommend getting a few thermistors, as they are a consumable, and a spare heater cartridge wouldn’t hurt either

Abnormal heating troubles in Wanhao duplicator 4 could demand concern. You should either consult a good serviceman to resolve your troubles or get assistance from the store where you bought the same. If you got it online, consult the helpline assistants to find solutions for the heating troubles.
