Hi! I am a music & Vinyl enthusiast and would love to have a record of my own band. Is it possible to transform an audio file into a design for a 3d printer? Is the resolution high enough to print those fine bits? Thanks for your help!

I remember reading this article last year, and went on a hunt for the program she created. I tried contacting her with no avail. I should give it another shot. I like how her software accounts for the resolution!

I read something about it in Visual News about someone found a way of 3D printing sounds. If you do get a 3D print out of your album’s band, do make sure to share it here  Good luck!

Probably possible, but also note that with a piece with such a large surface area, but so thin, keeping it from warping during printing or afterwards would be hard. And many materials would be weathered over time be the record player. I’ve heard about people pulling it off with a laser cutter though!

Hi a young girl Amanda Ghassaei found an algorythme to convert Audio files into Vinyl 3D file.

She’s quite good. It’s pretty new so we will have to wait a bit to get Vinyl Quality, it’s only 11kHz, an MP3 is 44 kHz,
but it still being exciting.

Yeah, I posted her instructable. Problem is that she never released her application to make it into an STL.

I actually wonder what program vinyl companies use, to make the tool & die. That should work as well.
