Hello, I’ve heard that some of you managed to install heated beds in your vertex K8400. I’m very Much interested in installing one in my own vertex although as far as I know Velleman does not offer one specifically made for the K8400. What kind of heated bed do I need ? Are there any extra parts required besides of the heated bed it self ?

You’ll need a power supply (the one included with the printer isn’t powerfull enough to run both). You have 2 choices, to get a beefier supply and replace the old one, or to place a new one next to the other power supply. I chose the latter.
after that, you’ll need a power expander, so that the output for the heatbed on the mainboard can control the heatbed.

je zou pcb heatbed mk2a kunnen gebruiken
je kan natuurlijk ook een los head bed gebruiken

Hello,
installing a heated bed on K8400 is not as difficult as it seems. The most important is, that the controllerboard of the vertex mashine supports a heated bed. Just follow the instructions you can find already written in here.
And a few extra tipps:
I used female-female jumper wires to connect the board with the expander (works great)
I put the Builtek s*** direct on the bed-frame and used it as electrical isolator
I made a sandwich of frame - thermal isolator - heatbed - glassplate and just fixed it with foldback clambs.
Keep in mind that your printbed is much bigger after this. So you might also have to modify the z-endstop to prevent a nozzle-crash. (I used superglue (cyanacrylate) and a pice of filament).
The ability to print on a hot glass plate, a full metal hotend and a few extra pulleys for the 8mm rods complete the vertex printer ;). Have fun with your mashine

I’m currently looking forward to equipping my vertex with the Rep Rap Alu heatbed Mk3 and the E3D V6 hotend (direct) as well as transforming from bowden to direct extrusion. The thing that bothers me is that I can’t find out the vlotage output offered by the printer. It doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere …
In a case like this a multimeter is your best friend. Hotend uses 12v.
you will need another power source for the heated bed. 24 V is recommend.

I bought a stronger 15V power supply (330 W).
But I don’t understand at what voltage I should supply the Mk3 Heatbed. It’s specification is either 12V or 24V… Shall I operate it at the 24V setting with 15V supply?
