I have a Monoprice 3D Ultimate and am wondering if it is possible to upgrade it to have dual extruders, how would I go about doing so and if it would even be worth the time and effort? The main reason I want to do this is to understand how it works and be able to do better quality prints by using materials like PVA.

Couple of things you should know first when you upgrade to dual extuders you loose printable area on your bed as they take up space. Full discloser I am not familiar with your printer, but if it’s not made to do so you will have to buy a new board and do other things that may make it worth your time to get one that already has dual extruder set up. Also using PVA is a pain in the ass it is just worth saving the frustration and pull supports off by hand.
