I have 2 Zortrax M200s that crashed and burned one day after another. One Zortrax M200 made the test print of the turbine fine, however on the 2nd print there was a loud grinding noise and the build plate raised up and came in contact with the extruder so I had to manually turn off the printer. We have tried to manually level the bed without success. The one thing we have noticed is there’s caked on filament around the extruder which is surprising because there have only been two prints attempted.
The following day the same exact thing happened to my first Zortrax M200 with less than 200 hours on it. I have submitted a “ticket” to Zortrax over 4 days ago without any replies. Just for the record I have been using 3D printers of different kinds for 3 years so I’m not a novice. I chose Zortrax M200 because of its reputation as a great plug-n-play and reliable 3D printer and now I’m a little more than disappointed. Especially since I purchased a 3rd one, (with Z-Temp switch) only 3 days prior to the 1st two breaking down. The prints that have turned out are awesome quality. ANY assistance would sincerely be sincerely appreciate it Please keep my 3D printer dreams alive!

Sorry for the lengthy post. Just wanted to include everything.
I have had similar problems, one printer it was the perforated plate. Check that all connections are of and its clean… second one needed a new extruder cable. A little bit of maintainence goes a long way. Clean it up take the plate off and clean it, that will most likely fix it. Oh and clean your nozzle…
Before the M200 starts printing, it checks the position of the build plate by raising it up until it contacts the nozzle. When the nozzle touches the build plate (on the silver coloured square) it completes an electrical circuit. But the circuit wont be made if the nozzle is completely caked with filament and the plate wont stop.
Give the nozzle a good clean and check the connectors on the build plate to make sure the pins aren’t damaged and that they are firmly inserted.
Good luck
Richard
PS. I noticed it takes Zortrax longer to respond to tickets these days - come on Zortrax you can do better!
We were thinking exactly on the same lines as you were. We checked the plates and they appear to be fine. And Our next step was to clean the extruders. Just very surprised they would get caked up only after 1 print. Thank you so kindly Nick!
The plates actually look pretty good, but I can not be for sure. . However is this something covered under the Warranty? Both machines are only 1-3 months old.
similar experience… it could be a very dirty nozzle or a plate very ruined or a firmware problem…the machine can’t recognise the plate so it crash on it…when you 'll find the cause of the problem be sure to check also all the screw cuz the crash could be have loss tight to it
Yes we have unleashed the maintenance plan of action from now on. It sure is a high maintenance printer. More than I have had in the past experience with other 3D printers. Next it will require a facial and a pedicure! LOL!
Thank you for your advice. We have checked all of the screws thinking the same as you. We will be giving everything a good clean up. As I previously stated I’m surprised one would get so dirty after only 1 print. However at least I now we have a direction and hopefully things will be back up and running in no time.
I had the same issue. Zortrax was very helpful. We tried everything and I replaced nearly every part and cable. The gave me most parts for free. No results. Then I finally sent the printer in the Zortrax repair department and they fixed it. They had no idea what the problem was though. The tech said they performed “normal maintenance” and the issue stopped. best - Max
Thank you for your reply. How long after you contacted Zortrax did they reply? It’s been almost a week and I haven’t heard from them yet. I would sincerely appreciate how you approached them and what process you used. Thank you for your comment Max!
It was pretty easy really. I just emailed in to tech support. By the end of it we probably had 40 emails back and forth and they helped out pretty well. They are on 12 hour time difference so it’s not very fast. If you send it in it seems like they’ll do a good job. Maybe they are swamped right now? -Max
Thank you Max, It’s been 8 days since I have even received a peep out of them. Definitely long enough where they deserve to be reminded. I appreciate your help!
