I just checked and it is $30 per month. Each month you get 160g of filament.
Personally I think that this is extremely overpriced. I like the idea of the service, and I would go for it if it were $15 per month. For $10 per month I’d jump at the opportunity. At $20 per month I’d have to *really* think hard about it.
Another thing that might make it worth it at the $30 price would be to include 2 half-rolls of exotic filament. Perhaps 0.25-0.5kg per roll depending on what is there.
Most of the other filament box services charge $30 per month (including shipping) and deliver 2kg of filament. Yes, it’s most often normal filament but sometimes you get something exotic.
This is, of course, just my opinion. It’s not worth it to me to get tiny amounts of filament that really isn’t enough to test.
We understand that the price may be a little high and we appreciate your feedback. The price is $30 because exotic filament is expensive and the other costs need to make it possible add up too. Our goal was to make it cheaper but that did not work out yet. As we continue to grow we will be making adjustments to pricing. For $30 per month you get 4 exotic samples of 11 meters/40 grams. This sample size is what ColorFabb sends in their samples if you were to order a sample from them. The other filament box services charge slightly lower price because they don’t send you all exotic filament. All PLA and ABS filament print the same. The only difference is color and that is what they send. We don’t want to send normal PLA and ABS. We will send exotic filament every month. Exotic filament could be carbon fiber nylon, electrically conductive, or ngen. We will never send a normal PLA or ABS. Please let me know if you have any questions.
