Hi all,

I am having issues with my Monoprice Maker Select. Every time that I turn it on, the temperature for the hot end reads -20C then immediately goes to “def.” Could this be because I have a replaced the old thermistor (accidentally broke it)? Any other advice? Thanks

yes, are you sure you put thermistor back fully in recess in block before screwing down the trapping washer and nut. if you’ve srewed it down and cracked the glass bulb it obviously will not work. Most but not all temp probs ( particulary fluctuating) come from therimor probs. Fortunatly cheap to replace, get anything rated 100-200c

def means the controller board is not getting a valid reading from the thermistor, which can be caused by the thermistor, or the connections to it, being either open or short circuit - the -20C would suggest it is more likely open circuit.

You may have replaced it, but you have no connection. check your connections, or the new thermistor .
