Hello Solidoodle Community,
I have both a Solidoodle 3 and 4 at the moment and i am having some issues. My Solidoodle 3 has a issue with excessive clogging and my 4 has what seems like a z wobble, anyone else had some of these issues and know of a easy fix?

My old sd4 extruder clogged a lot. Switched to a e3d chimera duel hotend. If you check out www.soliforum.com there’s a ton of helpful info
have also a E3Dv6 Hotend installed an a anti-bcklash assembly from thingiverse for my z-axis. the printer works very fine now -not very accurate but reliable.
Hi,
I have a three and its wobbling all over the place. I already replaced several parts with my own design, but still some parts to do. Especially the way the printerhead is mounted on the back-rails is a design-related problem.
Hello,
Yes, this is a common problem with these printers. And if you don’t do anything with it, it’ll become worse.
There are a couple of solutions, but I don’t like them, I’ll design an own solution to make my printer better.
Search for “z-banding” or “z wobble”
Maybe the best solution is changing the cheap 5/16 threaded rod to an M3 threaded rod.
Hi
i owned a solidoodle 4 and it was a poorly put together and didn’t print right. After looking it over and taking it apart I seen a lot of issues with z and x axis. To much wobble and play while printing and clogging also. After 4 months I sold it and got a makerbot 5th generation which works great and still running after 396 hour on it.
Move the bed from the top to the bottom looking at the middle of the z rod all the time for wobbel. If the vary top moves it’s fine but if the middle moves you need a new z axis gear. Solidoodle sells it on there site but it takes a long time to get them to ship it. It took them 18 days to ship me a replacement hot end. I complained to costomer service then they sent it two day air for free. I actually just got it tow days ago. Other than that I’v bin vary happy with my SD4.
join soliforum.com there are thousands of members and many threads already about these issues. you can post on there and find lots of help. ;^)
if your near St Louis MO and ever deside to sell the SD3 let me know. I own an SD2 and want to modify an SD3 with the duel extruder mentioned below and have a bit bigger build volume duel extruder for wash away support material. as I love how fine my SD2 prints for most items I make.
On soliforum, as many have mentioned are easy ways to fix this problem. The clogging could be related to the filament you use, if it has imperfections etc. Although you could have a clogged hotend. You could upgrade to an e3d v6 however if you don’t plan to print high temp materials a lite 6 would be perfect and less expensive. The z wobble can be fixed with parts on the Internet for less than £10/$15 by following the tutorials on soliforum.
