Hi all, I have an OBJ file that I generated from a drone flight. It is a view of a building in a field. I would like to be able to cut/trim away the outer excess areas I don’t want. In other words, looking down from the top I have a building in the middle of the area. I want to cut or trim away all of the excess “land” around the building so I can print the building and just what is close by. I don’t need to do fancy editing of the file but basically crop it as you would do to a photo.

Thanks for any suggestions and advice.

Hi @wirlybird I’m probably missing something here (it’s early) but can you not just load it into your preferred editing software and trim it using boolean subtraction?

Probably so but I am not sure how yet.

Hey @wirlybird if you want to upload it, I’ll give it a shot (nothing much on today!).

You can load it into Tinkercad, and subtract BLOCKS of it. You can learn Tinkercad in no time.

You can use Netfabb basic, which can cut via slider based slicers.

You can use meshmixer to subtract sections.
