Hello, I just finished building my anet a6 but when i connect the heatbed it starts to beat this heatsinked part to the point i have to pull out the plug because it starts to smell burned! Its brand new and the polarity is connected as the guide showed. Am i doing something wrong or is my heatbed or mainboard fried?

Hi,
double check that your board is connected to the power supply correctly (if during the first attempt the screen turns on it’s probably ok), disconnect your heated bed and check for short circuit with a multimeter, maybe the bed is defective (the heating resistance of the bed should be around 12ohm). If power connection and bed are ok check for short circuit near the bed connector or the mosfet in the main board, if even this is ok probably it’s a defective component.
Thanks bro, will check tomorrow, its a mosfet that is smoking tho… Seems like they are way too small to handle the current

The mosfet itself it’s fine for the job, usually what create problems (at least in the old version of the mainboard) were bad connectors and thin traces (or if you’re unlucky faulty components).
However, you can also add external mosfet to your board, you can buy pre-made external mosfet board or if you’re practical with electronics you can make your own. I have added external mosfet to my printer too, mainly to provide a better heat dissipation and therefore improving mainboard’s lifespan.
