Slicers for Makerbot

I currently am printing on a few replicator 2x’s and a z18. Sometimes i have issues with the maker ware slicing files. Is anybody out there having luck with other slicers? There has to be some better options.

I use Simplify3D

In most cases it suits me very well

Slic3r needs some serious setup and learning but is a great slicer. I use it for the FlashForge Creator Pro which is a replicator clone and it works beautifully, offers great control and is decently fast at slicing.

Is it a client too? If not, what do you use with it?

I only used repG to setup up the Sailfish firmware (I am not sure if sailfish will work on a replicator 2x). After the initial setup I never looked back at repG.

I used this site to setup slic3r http://www.3duniverse.org/2014/01/05/using-slic3r-with-a-flashforge-creator/. but I don’t think it will be very useful for you.

I did however find a few threads that talk a bout using slic3r with a replicator 2

Yes, it’s both a slicer and a client.

Sailfish does work with a Replicator 2x, I installed it on mine and it works like a charm
