Hi guys, some print jobs on my i3 randonly stop mid print. Some jobs start ok but some jobs say printing and without any movement they turn idle, but other jobs work and complete perfectly. I use Simplify3D to setup for the i3 and think that may be the issue as it doesn’t seem like anything is wrong with the hardware (doesn’t overheat and full movement range is available and works). If I change the job (so put 3 up instead of 4 or 2 instead of 1 for example) it can fix the issue.

If I drag the gcode back into Simplify it displays as a complete job but just doesn’t do it. Could it be missing a line of code out or something?

It might be possible that you’ve selected one or more processes after clicking ‘prepare for print’. At the popup you can select which layers needs to be printed with a specific process…

Could it have to do with your energie saving computer turned on?

I’m not so sure it is the software. Could very well be the buffer on the com bus on the controller for your printer. I shielded every line I could get to and can now have 8 hour prints on a duplicator 4S over USB. YMMV…

I also had to go over each and every usb hub to make sure power saving was off… Some screen savers, etc on PCs can cause things to get flakey. Lots of extra RAM doesn’t hurt. I’ve had S3D take a few gigs before on some really high count models…
