Same issue here as well. After talking with tech support it seems the only workaround is printing from SD card.

Frustrating since paying out $140 for a piece of software that functions as well as other free software. Feeling a sense loyalty to my REPRAP community, I wanted to support a company that grew from there. However, the lack of support on this issue is giving me little confidence in Simplify 3D as solid, reliable software. Come on Simplify guys - get your act together and fix your software.

In all fairness: I simply love simplify3D because of all the options it has got. And I have never had ‘no problems’ when printing over USB with software like replicatorG, Makerware or Cura…So, to me it’s more like a spooler issue (and not a simplify3D). When the computer is really busy it will have a hickup on your print. But it would be great to have it fixed in general but meanwhile i’ve grown accustomed to using SD card for long prints and only use USB for the easy ones…

I’m not so sure it is the software. Could very well be the buffer on the com bus on the controller for your printer. I shielded every line I could get to and can now have 8 hour prints on a duplicator 4S over USB. YMMV…

I also had to go over each and every usb hub to make sure power saving was off… Some screen savers, etc on PCs can cause things to get flakey. Lots of extra RAM doesn’t hurt. I’ve had S3D take a few gigs before on some really high count models…
