hiya!

so, I bought a cheap 3d-printer because it was on sale, can someone guide me on a good setup for CURA printing with ABS?

I’ve tried using just a brim, and it seems to keep curling up, I’m trying to use a raft now, but it seems so wasteful (and time consuming). I’m sure there are a few settings that I can tweak that will increase the quality of the prints, but I don’t know what they are…

thanks!

I have had good success printing ABS at 230C with a bed temp of 80C on my mini. I print on blue tape with a glue stick applied to the area I am printing. I also have a sketchy enclosure I made out of 2 sterilite containers I got from home depot.

how are you able to get the print bed to 80C? the max on the settings is 60, and even configured in cura, I can only get about 70, maybe 75…

I have it set at 60 in cura, then once it heats to 60C and the extruder starts heating I click on the bed temp and twist the knob until it maxes out (at 80C). It doesnt actually reach 80 until probably 1 minute into the print.

Glad to hear it!

Any tips for getting the blue tape to stick to the aluminum base plate? I am not having any issue with the ABS sticking to the blue painters tape… it simply rips the tape from the base and proceeds to curl.
