I got some aluminum metal filament for Christmas 40% aluminum 60% PLA but i haven’t tried it yet because I don’t want to ruin my nozzle. Has anyone had any experience with this filament or company? Any suggestions on a metal nozzle?

You will not ruin a standard brass nozzle in one print. However, metal filled filament are abrasive and will wear out your nozzle quicker than regular plastic. There are nozzles made from stainless steel as well as hardened steel available for most hotends, and with a harder nozzle metal or carbon filled filaments will print just as well as normal filaments

Yes, it will slowly wear a nozzle diameter open. One lb of brass = 1 new nozzle, for example.

I just buy extra nozzles, and keep them around. They are like 8 bucks.

As a side note, there are some surprising other filaments that wear a nozzle, for example Glow in the Dark wears a nozzle faster…

It works like regular filament, prints correctly when set to 220-230°C

Thanks

How can you tell when you need to replace your nozzle? Is it just the end piece you replace or the whole inner component
